Gutzi was born from painful experience. As an ultra runner I had real problems with what to eat during a long run, and would often find myself either feeling or being very sick. I found that I craved savoury flavours and ‘real’ food. And yet, for some reason, there was nothing readily available in an easy to carry form.
Unsurprisingly, it turns out I’m not the only person to have had problems with nutrition for sport, or to want an alternative to the glut of sweet sports products. Dozens of athletes feel the same way:

Really like the idea of savoury sports foods for ultras.
There is definitely a gap in the market for this.
They say necessity is the mother of invention. I’m still on a quest to make the best tasting sports food on the market – natural, energy-dense, easy to swallow, portable, kind on the stomach and, most importantly, tasty. It’s taking a while but as they say, nothing worth doing is every easy.
We’ve had a great group of supporters happy to taste along the way and we’ll keep you posted about further sampling events as we go.
